This card might as well say “Cycle” on it, as to give a red creature haste is almost like giving a black creature pro-black. However, the cycling effect may be enough to allow this card to see limited play, and be effective enough in multi-color decks to throw in. Constructed will find little use for it, and will pass it by as it does so many cards from limited sets.

Woohoo......a dwarven legend!! Well, don’t get too excited as he isn’t all that great. Perhaps if there were a greater presence of barbarians to choose from, he might see some constructed play, and still might in block constructed events. In limited he has very little potential other than another 2/2 for 3, and should probably be passed over for some burn or real creatures.

It seems red got the worst of the set, as this is a dismal enchantment. Slots dedicated to this in limited could be better spent on creatures or burn, and as with other enchantments, constructed play won’t even raise an eyebrow to find room for it.

A mediocre card at best, a 4/4 for 7 mana is just to great a risk to even think about putting in a constructed deck, but for limited a 4/4 is still just that, a 4/4. Creatures are the basis of any good limited deck, and the bigger the better. Even with the huge mana cost drawback, most red mages will run this pussy in their decks with the hopes of overwhelming their opponent.

Chuck it to the mongrel and do 3 damage to any possible blockers or to the player himself allows this card to find its’ way into both formats, especially some green/red rocketshoe constructs sure to emerge in the upcoming season. Limited will make just as much use of it, if not more, allowing for the card to become a sought after draft pick.

An above average creature rare that will definitely find play in both environs, but may be overrated. Though it can come out relatively quickly and evade counterspells, a 1/1 is still easily removed from play, especially in constructed. The loss of threshold could also be a factor in this creature finding much play, as currently quite a bit of the environment revolves around this mechanism. Much to volatile a card to be broken, it will still be highly sought after and played.

Even with the additional first strike and pumping abilities, this barbarian joins the rest in the mediocre creature melee. Black/Red is indeed a lethal combination, and could evolve into a newer machinehead. Though highly expensive, it is nonetheless a fat creature that will be a bomb in many limited environments. As I’ve said over and over, limited is all about your creature base, and though he is late game and I think the come into play effect is minor, he is still a major threat to be dealt with in limited formats. More than likely this is the taxi that the barbarians will be riding to the Ball after the limited season is over as there probably isn’t a place in constructed for this beast.

A solid player in limited formats, a 2/5 wall for 3 mana allows for a great defensive creature that can allow you to build up your army. A possible solution to discard effects targeting you, I believe this secondary ability if of little to no use. Constructed play will pass this one by, since defensive creatures show little play in that arena.

Well, there you have it, red in a nutshell. I may have been less judgmental on this color as I always find that red creatures are abysmal and you have to look more into the removal and burn that is playable when deciding if red is a color of choice for limited/constructed play.
