I smiled slyly, “But of course.”

Imagine my utter confusion when he smiled back and replied, “Good.”

All I could think of was that my friend was obviously insane or else just a closet lover of pain and suffering. Of course we were paired up in round one. I fully intended to fulfill my friend’s desire for a stomping, especially when his first two turns were Island

that I could overload or a miracle Bonfire. Needless to say, these were not enough to save me and I went down hard in two games.

“No big deal,” I said to myself, “They can’t all be playing Geist decks.”

Wrong again. After going 1-3 (dropped) and facing 4 decks featuring the hexproof little cleric, I left the store depressed and deflated.

I went home and immediately started thinking about what the heck could have possibly gone wrong. I thought I had everything right. I WAS playing Jund

Being able to kill the big guys, even in the air, and not dying to the little guys while gaining you two life every time is pretty back breaking for some decks. However, getting a couple of these guys to stick on the board is some pretty good offense as well. That lifelink can really get out of control if left unchecked. has, in my opinion, no real downside. If they don’t sacrifice a creature then he is as 6/6 flying beat stick, but if they do then he is removal that gets to swing back bigger next time. Plus, more than half the time you are dropping him onto an empty table due to the amount of spot removal and board sweepers the deck runs. A Demon

Turns out this was the finals of the night (my store does things weirdly). My opponent was a really young guy that desperately wanted to prize so we drew and split prize (I know, I’m such a softy).

So to conclude, I had a great time with the deck and it performed as well as I could have hoped. It did what I wanted it to do and crushed that little hexproof cleric. I couldn’t be happier. I really think that this deck could go some great places and I can’t wait to keep testing it.

Well, until next time, keep brewing out there!
