would not help much.

Now, the games:
23 players, 5 rounds of swiss, cut to top 8.

Round 1: Ravager Affinity
g1: This guy is one of the ´´good´´ players who you would expect to start out 3-0. I had the luck of playing him round 1. He won the coin flip, and chose to play. I made a play mistake of not shooting his disciple with arc-slogger, and a 14/10 blinkmoth nexus beat me down.

I cut a mountain, because the mana curve got slightly lower.

g2: I draw a hand like mountain, mountain, kami, detonate, detonate, pyroclasm, magma jet. I keep and win in a few turns.

g3: I got an average hand, and held him to a paradise mantle and an ornithopter, and no land. He was at 12, and I was 18, taking 2 from disciple. I literally drew 6 mountains in a row. In the end he drew a darksteel citadel, and cast frogmite, and went off again (since he was actually forced to discard stuff from his hand). I should not have lost that game, but I did.

0-1, (1-2)

Round 2: Janky G/W
g1: I mulligan down to 5, and he goes sakura, Kodama's reach, Kodama of the north tree. I lose.

+2 Pulse

g2: My deck curves really nicely, and I get hearth kami, stone rain, demolish, slogger on the first 5 turns. I win.

While shuffling for game 3, I ask him how many cards his deck has, because it looked really thin. He said 48. I call a judge over, and he gets a game loss. I won 2-1, but I felt kinda bad. To make up for it, I said he could play me with the sideboarded cards, and if he won, I would give him the match win. (I am WAY too nice).

We play, and he never sees more than 3 lands, just out of Iwamori's range.

1-1, (3-3)

Round 3: Little kid playing U/G
This is not U/G Control. It looks like he put the blue and green from his starter decks together. I won.

2-1, (5-3)

Round 4: B/G Control
g1: He wins the die roll, and goes first. He pulls off enough acceleration to get out Kokusho. Then he topdecks another one. He wins.

Between games 2 and 3, he asks if I want to draw. This guy is a good friend of mine, plus he lent me the boils, culling scales, and 2 pulses. I say yes. Plus, I knew he would win as long as he didn't mulligan down to 5.

2-1-1 (6-4-1)

Round 5: MUC
g1: This game was long. He gets out Meloku twice, but each time I have a pyroclasm and e-bolt in hand. Eventually, my arc-slogger beats him down.

1 KCI
1 B/G (the guy who I played round 4)
1 WW (he won swiss...how sad)
1 Ponza (me)

Quarterfinals: KCI
I am saddened that I have to play the harder matchup in the quarterfinals.

Semifinals: I am seeded 5th, so I have to play the #1 guy. I have to play WW.

g1: He gets mana screwed because of stone rain, molten rain, and demolish. I get 2 sloggers, and he scoops. I don't know if I SBed correctly, but here goes:

I won a box, 2 by mail, an invite to nationals, and a $500 schloarship. Not bad for a $15 entry fee. I felt really good in Top 8, as Ponza really dominated. I didn't drop a game there, but I had a much harder time beating that G/W deck than I thought I would have.

Lastly, I would like to say that Genju really did not help me much, and it doesn't become really good until you lay down your 6th mountain or so, so you can burn and/or LD. I think 2 are all you really need for him. I think 3 Pulse of the Forge

Ponza has been a great deck to play with, since it does not really have a terrible matchup against any deck in the field. After the bannings, look for this to be one of the top.
