CardShark Content - Beatdown Bedford Crenshaw (9/9/2004)

There have been many cards that have been made by WotC. Some see play. Some are rightly relegated to the binders for all time. But there are many that long to be played more. Maybe they were printed in the wrong block. Maybe people just did not see an initial use for them. These are the cards. Due to there being many of these “Rodney Dangerfields”, I am going to restrict myself in this article by concentrating on 10 blue cards that should have been used more, but weren’t.

1) Illusionary Pet
This is a very nifty creature for blue. It is rare that blue gets such a big creature for so cheap. It is obvious why this card was never played; blue is too used to keeping cards in hand. But in a fun merfolk deck, or a deck built around Unstable Mutation

This card seems like a dream for cheesy blue players. I think the problem is that no one has yet devise the perfect deck to use it in. The problem is that the deck falters if you do not draw the Shared Fate

Yes, this is a blue/white card, but since this is a very bluish card, and would have been blue if in any other block, I’ll count it here. No relation to the previous card, this card has always offended me because Chris Pikula originally designed this card to be a counterspell on a stick, but WotC said such a card could not exist and they forced this card through. Then, in the very next set, they made Mystic Snake

, which was a counterspell on a stick. Anyways, this card has seen very little use, mostly because a 2/2 is relatively fragile; there are too many ways to kill it. But still, it is a legal “Look at Me…”; a niche that can always be filled.
