MINE MINE MINE! - Brian Greenberg (7/28/2010)

Hi, this is Brian Greenberg. This is the first article I’ve attempted to submit to a Cardshark forum. I’ve been trying to think of successful deck plans for a pretty long time. I’ve made a lot of decks before, and they haven’t been particularly bad or poorly made. However, this is the first one that I think actually merits an article. The name of the deck “Mine Mine Mine!” is a reference to the Mine Mine Mine! card in the Unglued set, which had both players put their entire deck into their hand.

My first thoughts for the deck came from the article “The Forest

for the Trees” by Luke Collins, a very well written article that convinced me that there could be other interesting strategies made by having cards work for you without necessarily having them in play, but where he says lands in graveyards I say cards in hand. In summary, the deck is based on the concept of using Spellbook

and Masumaro.

I hate it when decks are made by throwing overpriced and overpowered cards into a pile until something half decent comes out. It also bothers me having to spend a lot of money on cards. Therefore, I sincerely apologize for using some cards that many casual players aren’t willing to pay the money to buy. However, all the expensive cards are quite necessary. My original plan was to have this as an “on the budget” deck but all those powerful draw supplying creatures made that impossible.

And here they are!

I made the deck a RUG colored deck… Red, Blue, and Green, but other variations of colors could also be possible. Blue needs to stay because none of the other colors can provide such effective drawing abilities. Green is very helpful and I wouldn’t advise taking it out, but you could go without it. Red is the color that if you were to make a variation on the deck would probably be the first to go, the only red cards that would really hurt the deck by not being in there is Niv-Mizzet. If you do want to substitute in another color I would go for white as they have cards such as Empyrial Armor
