Lately, with the introduction of Darksteel to the standard some signifigant rumors have been addressed. First of which being, the sort of demotion of U/w control variants. I for one am happy about this due to the fact is so boring to play and play against. Also, I am sure you have all heard of how skullclamp is supposed to be the new governing force in all of t2. However, for the last month or so I have be revamping a deck that has no bad matches against any tier 1 deck and slaughters almost all the rest.

MWC or mono-white control has always, in my opinion been a force to be reckoned with. With a few adjustments since Onslaught

Right now because everyone is attempting to develope new tech I feel the tier ratings are slightly misleading. Therefore, I think the most popular decks are elves, goblins, u/w control, mono black aggro beats, r/g l/d, WW/e, Proteus Collosus, Aggro-Affinity. Granted I may have missed a few but those come to mind rather vividly. Here is the match up analysis:

Against elves the only real problem cards become the herald because of all the mass removal, and for the same reason caller of the claw. Game one is probably the hardest game one you have to play. Really, to win they need to kill you before you play your fourth land. After the fourth land you can wrath swinging board control, then fifth turn activate an oblivion stone, sixth turn akroma's vengance. Mindslaver

, as with most matchups, is the allstar. Turn 6, play him and possibly activate it, play all there guys and play a board sweeper, its an uphill battle for them from there. Games 2 and 3 I would bring in thuderstaff and probably not story circle. However, you could try taking out 4 slides and a wayfarer to make room for 3x thunderstaff, and 2x story circle.

Goblins is again a race but if you live till fourth turn you should win. Play the match the same you would elves. Slaver, play there guys, wrath. I fthey play bidding side in scrabbling claws, sacred ground (flashfires are acoming), and story circle. Wayfarer is far too slow here and I would side out oblivion stone. Both are too slow for this match.

U/w control is an easy one. You guys essentially play the same deck. The U/w players have cards to counter your threats, luckily your win condition can only be stifled. Just cycle eternal, get him back, cycle, lather, rinse, repeat. Also if you can resolve a slide and a jens he will help toward deck thinning and a bigger, faster decree. Scrabbling Claws

come in. Claws their dragons so you always win the land count race and thunderstaff shutsdown an eot decree.

MonoBlack Aggro can sometimes be insanely quick but if they run Harvester, let him hit the board and just cycle a decree make 6 guys and block for 6 turns. they lose 6 permanents or they get rid of the 5/6 behemoth. Game 1 should be rather easy, and games 2 and 3 story circle goes the distance.

WW/e is also a tough match. This deck will be very popular and very tough to beat. Fortunately this deck has the same issues as goblins. The WW/e player has to continously draw threats and you just slaver and wrath. they can't do anything about it.Game 2 story circle, I guess you could play altar's light but I ussually don't.

Proteus Collosus is a very fragile deck that can win game 1 but will lose to altar's light games 2 and 3. I really don't worry about Char

belcher because I'll altars light that away also. I run three artifact ate spells and they have two artifact win conditions. LOL

Aggro-Affinity will lose simply due to Vengance and now the ability to slide out that 12/12 flying broodstar. You can ring in altar's light but it depends on the build.

So there it is, te deck that will turn the format upside down.

Happy Testing.
