Sligh has always been a popular Type 1 budget archtype. It usually entitles fast red damage spells and creatures that take a player out of the game before they can swing into their plan of action. This deck can be very powerful for the amount of money it costs, (it's crazy cheap) however the largest complaint against sligh is that it runs out of steam too early with no really powerful late game play, and simply put, a fair amount of people find it too boring to play. If only there was a way to fix both these problems with shall we say, one stone, but still keep the relative early game power of the standard sligh build (or even improve on it)? Yes, I do believe so, here it is:

The cost of the deck is $296.11 give or take ($106.99 for mono red sligh, but that’s no fun).

Sligh has traditionally been mono red, however I think that with the inclusion of green the power of the deck goes up considerably. All of the red spell in the deck are trademark sligh however the green spells could almost be seen as stolen from various builds of type one tog, the dryad from grow-atog and the berserk from the sideboard of hulk smash. Now to explain the additions.

is an interesting addition to the sligh build (if I do say so myself) in that it doesn't slow the deck down with its low casting cost, however it adds to the late game power of the deck if it even comes to late game. The dryad benefits greatly from the fact that almost half the deck is red spells under the cost of three (all of the spells are under the cost of three for that matter). The dryad has the possibility to come down early and join in with the other cheap red creatures but it should soon grow past them proving itself more difficult to handle in the later turns if the game comes to them.

Now some of you may be scratching your heads and asking is this a budget deck with three Berserk

s in it? Yes, berserk is priced some where at 40 dollars, however with the cost of the rest of the deck so low it’s not that large of an investment, also it adds to the blistering speed of sligh. It is best to berserk a Ball Lightning
