What’s up everybody? I’m back again with more chaos multiplayer goodness. Everyone loves the sudden win – “My turn? I win!” Everyone also loves the beatdown. We can go on and on about control decks and burn and whatever, but there’s something satisfying about sending a great big beatstick over to your opponent to say hi. While we’re on the subject of what everyone loves, everyone loves Wrath of God

costs too much and it’s the wrong color anyway! So I built a deck around making mass creature removal less symmetric and allowing the sudden win or the beatdown win. Here it is – the MassKill deck.

At first glance, the idea is pretty self explanatory. Play out lots of Penumbra and Symbiotic creatures, defend yourself with them, attacking when necessary, then drop a Wrath or Rout

in play, and I turned it into a creature to save the win. The possibilities are endless!

The only problem with this approach is the pace. It takes forever to get set up. After playing a few times, I realized that it would never work unless I sped it up somehow. I added in some Hunting Grounds

, hoping to be able to play my big stuff for free on a regular basis. There’s one problem with that. With anywhere from 2-5 other people playing, I can drop all the permanents in my hand relatively quickly and then just sit there a long time. The solution presents itself in the form of Mind’s Eye, and then reads like shampoo instructions. Draw a card with the next player. Use Hunting Grounds

take stupid amounts of mana to get working. It takes a long time to wail on somebody with a few 1/1 insects. The Wake stops both of these problems. Double the mana tends to make the spell casting speed up a bit. Insects beef to 2/2, and the Caller of the Claw

So there you have it. I love this deck. Very few of my decks just sit back and win all of a sudden. Most of them involve killing one person outright, and then picking at the rest until I finally win. This deck can do that quite effectively. But usually, when this one wins, it wins in a big hurry. Until next time, enjoy breaking some symmetries!
