CardShark Content - Chewie! Slate (7/25/2005)

So here I am again with another nutty multiplayer deck. I decided to go old-school Chewie on this one and just write about a deck. No evolutions, no deeper understanding of the game, nothing at all that will make you any smarter or a better group-game player. This time it’s just a fun deck that I love to play. As you might know, I tend to build my decks around a single concept that I take up and run with. Looking at my older articles, the overwhelming majority are written about decks like this. goes with the ‘Keeper, allowing me to grab a land from my graveyard in response to an opponent playing a land and putting it into play. This way I can throw lands into the graveyard on a whim and it won’t hurt me.

Speaking of throwing lands in the graveyard, I’ve got all kinds of things to do that. Let’s start simple. There’s Constant Mists

, which will keep me alive indefinitely unless it’s countered. This is especially fun against several opponents at once because once they figure out what’s going on they all tend to gang up on me. With all four pieces of the aforementioned “Land Engine” in play, I can survive quite well against three opponents. Against more, it depends on how often they play lands so I can use Burgeoning

Sadly, in order to make him even remotely useful, he has to do his paper-industry thing and destroy some forests, making him pretty useless in a big game where reach is the order of the day, so he got left in the stack of crappy uncommons. a long time ago and I thought it was pretty cool. An 8/8 for five mana? That’s nuts! But his drawback was too severe for any sort of play whatsoever, even in our casual chaos decks. As I was constructing this deck, I rediscovered him and decided to toss a few in. If I can immediately recoup any losses from his drawback, it’s not really a drawback is it? would make a spectacular addition to a deck one day, but his regeneration basically costs him a point of power and toughness. Well that’s silly. Once again, this deck popped up to give the little guys a home. They’re so cute when they’re tearing an opponent and his creatures into teeny little bits. Awww…

Then there was Molimo. This guy is just nuts, especially if you’re getting a lot of land into play. And he comes ready-equipped with trample! That makes him big and scary, too scary for chump-blocking! If only I could give all my creatures this boon of trample. Uktabi Wildcats

s handy. Except the one on Midway Arcade Classics 2, does anyone else remember this? It’s one of those old fighting games. There were claymation dinosaurs and apes that beat the crap out of each other and could eat members of the badly-digitized human audience to regain some strength. One of the apes had a vomit-projectile attack for goodness’ sake! I really loved that game. So much in fact that I worked it into a completely unrelated article about a collectible card game. Wow. lock is down, I can attack with my big tramply guys and chuck trees from afar. If somehow I am unable or unwilling to attack, I can still toss trees at my opponents. Hopefully the life totals have come down over the course of the game so the Giant and the tramplers can make short work of everyone that’s still left. There’s just something about uprooting a tree and throwing it at an opponent that makes me happy. So I’m a dork, what’s your point?
