CardShark Content - David DC Carl (8/8/2004)

In this article, I will briefly examine the cards from Fifth Dawn for use in the Peasant Magic format. As I have in past articles, I will be giving (significantly) greater weight to the commons since Peasant decks run approximately ten times as many commons as uncommons between the main deck and the sideboard (without counting basic lands). Those familiar with the set will notice that I’ve skipped some cards entirely. In general, these cards have some (limited) sideboard applications or, more usually, there are better choices for your deck.

[Sidenote – I’d like to briefly address a couple of issues that came up in the discussion of my last article. (1) In Peasant Magic, cards use the rarity of the most common printed version of that card. Fireball

(uncommon) Night’s Whisper – Two cards for 2 mana is great, even with the life loss drawback. The real question is whether or not it’s worth an uncommon slot.
