The Hidden Shadowmoor - Douglas White (6/23/2008)

Recently, Wizards started to officially spoil Eventide. It promises to be an interesting set, as was Shadowmoor. Strangely enough, there are some combos that a lot of players don't look for when drafting Shadowmoor because the individual cards don't appear on the surface to be very useful in format. A lot of these cards appear mediocre at best in this format, especially when you look at cards like the multi-color aura cycle, the Godheads and the multi-color 3 mana creatures. When you consider the speed of the format, the fact that there is a lot of card draw in the set, and you play it all correctly, they can easily be blockbuster game winners.

Also, the combo pieces on their own are more useful in format than most people think. Sinking Feeling

make this easier. Otherwise, it goes great in a mono-blue or blue/white deck.

In conclusion, I would like to offer that these are all a great game winning combinations that are just begging to be drafted into a deck if you see the right pieces. Waiting on them to win a game is kinda useless, you should still go for cards like the auras and the quick to cast, big creatures for the bulk of your deck. Keeping these combos in the back of your head though could easily lead to you taking a match and placing higher in a tourney than you expected to.
