CardShark Content - Earl Burbridge (3/4/2002)

Hi, I'm Earl Burbridge, and I'm a Magic Addict.

Ahhhh... The ´´You Create a Card´´ experiment on Magicthegathering.com has just gotten a bit more interesting. Instead of a straight vote, we can submit mechanics for this green creature. You've GOT to love that. I'm going to throw out a few ideas, and maybe we can flood Rosewater with some good ones.

The three mechanics I submitted were the following:

´´When THIS deals damage to a creature or player, choose one: the controller of THIS puts a 1/1 Saproling

token into play, put a +1/+1 counter on THIS, or target player searches his library for a basic land card and puts it into play.´´

Okay. Interesting, right? If the creature would have a reasonable casting cost, it would be good, but not overpowering. Most of all, it makes a green player THINK. Instead of just turning a card sideways, the player has to turn the card sideways and THINK a bit.

How about another? SURE...

´´Tap: Target player adds G to their mana pool for each forest THIS's controller controlls.´´

EITHER a big mana elf, OR green direct damage. As long as the opponent doesn't have something to sink it into. Green DOES have a history of direct damage, but it's usually a Hurricane

varient. This WOULD be in flavor for green.

And, finally...

´´When THIS deals combat damage to a player, you may choose to pay (X)(X), and instead of dealing damage, THIS puts X poison counters on the opponent, instead.´´

Poison.... Mmmm..... I know that poison decks are bad. I DO have fond memorys of the Marsh Viper

combo. This could be interesting, though.

And that wraps up another column for me. Have fun out there, play hard, play fair, play to win.
