CardShark Content - Fredrik Gustafsson (3/22/2004)

Well, about a week ago, I told you all about this great idea for a Myr deck and some basic info on it. If you missed my article, you can find it here. Well, now I have had time to test it against some of my friends’ decks, and I will tell you the results here. Now, if you don’t care about (summarized) battle reports, then this article will probably be boring to you, so you’ve been WARNED! Here we go:

Myr Goodness deck vs. Affinity deck

My opponent was getting out cards scary fast, but then, BAAM! One play changed the game. I had only some manna myrs out, and then I played a Lodestone Myr

. A few attacks later, keeping in mind that I also only had artifact land, my opponent was wasted. It can be hard going up against very fast decks, but you’ll have to hope on drawing the right cards.

Myr Goodness deck vs. Burn deck

I was able to get myrs out fairly quickly, but my opponent kept burning most of them. Then, the game was pretty much over as one of my Myr Incubator

s, this time producing 30 myr tokens, hit the table. My opponent, completely baffled, died the next turn. Died in the game that is… I didn’t shot him or anything… Many of the cards in my deck are very useful against burn opponents… preferably the Myr Incubator

Myr Goodness deck vs. my friends Chris’s messed up deck (Its really pathetic)

I don’t even think I should count this one as a real game… he crashed and burned after dealing a few points of damage with a winged sliver (P.S. I have sadly noticed that flying is a bad thing to come up against with this deck… more on that later [MOTM Part 3?]). And as I said before, this deck is messed up, so I’m not even gonna count this one… oh wait, YES I AM! HA HA, YOU STINK CHRIS!

And finally: Myr Goodness deck vs. Counter deck

Ok, this is bad… using stupid Isochron Scepter

was imprinted, and lets just say a myr never even hit the table before it was kicked back by the counter. This is an opponent you don’t want to face using this deck (and beware of flying too!)

Final Score: Fredrik: 3 Opponents: 1

So in conclusion, we can see that this deck is a good deck against a vide array of opponents, but beware of Counterspell

s and flying, which I will go over in the probable Part 3 of the Mysteries of the Myrs. Until later, this is Fred, signing off…
