CardShark Content - Ian Kitrick (9/15/2004)

Yes, I am back. I know I haven’t written one of these articles in a while, actually, since Mirrodin came out. Well, it feels good to start analyzing decks again. Nowadays, everybody seems to play affinity. Doesn’t it get boring playing different people with their same $100 decks that they don’t need skill for, all they need is a big wallet. Well, if you want to keep the wallet part low, and the skill part high, then this deck is for you. This is a great deck that is similar to the affinity decks that EVERYBODY plays, except it won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

Here it is:

will make sure you always have something new in your hand. You can equip on the Worker, which lets you draw 2 cards, put its +1/+1 counters on another creature, and if you have any disciples out, your opponent will lose some life. This card is so horribly broken because of its ability to draw two cards, and because it is so cheap. Even better is if you have 2 retrievers. Equip one, draw your two cards and get something back. You can sac what you got back from the first retriever to you atog, for more damage plus the life loss from the disciples. Then, equip your second retriever to draw 2 more cards, get back your other retriever, and repeat until you run out of mana. It would cost 2 for each retriever, but if you have 2 counters on your Aether Vial

: This is the key card in this deck. This would be your ideal first turn play. Then on turn 2 you can play some creature/s plus a worker or a disciple for free from this. Because the majority of the creatures in this deck cost 1 or 2, you should keep the counters on your vials at 1 or 2. If you have 4 of these out, try to have 2 of them with 2 counters and the other 2 with 1 counter.
