CardShark Content - James Stone (1/6/2004)

After waiting and waiting for somebody somewhere to bring up this deck concept, I decided to share it with all of my friends at Cardshark since I have no realistic ability to try this deck out in a sanctioned environment. Without further ado, I present Warp Rats!

The countermagic centers around the intent to tap your opponent out to keep your turns a bit more worry free. Plenty of dig with the tutors and intuitions.

just to set yourself up quicker.

My original configuration included 4 grid monitors since the deck is creatureless, but I decided it probably wouldn't create an additional way to win and was more of a defensive posture than anything. The only other card I liked (for the ´´rogue´´ factor of it) was spy network.

Here is what I devised as a sideboard:

since the deck doesn't have much dependence on non-land permanents until the helix is in play (at which point you are hopefully starting the combo)...but I think propaganda may be a quicker fix.

All in all, if you can stall out long enough or put your resources together fast enough, it is simply a matter of time before you start up the rat factory. I also considered using Brush with Death

for the life gaining buyback (which you might consider just to broaden your combination possibilities and keep you alive longer and protect against remove-all-copies-of-lab-rats-from-the-game type cards). I personally just like the idea of winning by rolling over your opponent with a bunch of bandaged rats in wheelchairs.

If you've found this article useful and/or entertaining, your ratings are appreciated! You can also email me with your suggestions, but I would rather see somebody try this deck out (altered or not) and email me with playtesting results! Thanks!
