For those of you who don’t know it, Veldalken Orrery is a new artifact in Fifth Dawn that, for 4 colorless mana, allows you to play any non land card as though it is an instant. Unlike Vernal Equinox

, which affects all players, the Orrery affects you and you alone. The most obvious advantage to the Orrery is that it allows you to remain untapped on your, and most of your opponent’s, turn, only playing spells when a threat hits the board, or at the end of your opponents turn. Most people get this so I won’t go in depth about it.
Another advantage to the Orrery is that your opponent will never want to attack you while you have untapped mana for fear of a big creature hitting the board or, even better, a “comes into play” ability like Nekrataal

which turns into an instant terror on wheels. While Orrery has plenty of advantages with creatures, artifacts and even enchantments, its true power shines with sorceries. Ever wish you could have played that Tendrils of Agony

? I know I have but, with the Orrery, those days are in the past because the instant speed sorceries are coming to town.
Sorceries are almost always cheaper then their instant speed cousins because sorceries aren’t instant, and, if they are the same price, the sorcery counterpart is almost always more powerful (such as Chain Lightning

With this deck you should only play the sorceries on your opponent’s turn unless it’s dire. You should also play the mines on your opponent’s turn so you get the first extra draw from it. All of the creatures are black with nasty surprises for any opponent who dares attack you. I chose to use Dark Banishment over Terror

late game when you have a lot of extra mana to toss around. The way the deck wins is to keep your opponents hand and creature count down until you can finish them with a big Consume Sprit, or your creatures can pick away at them until a smaller or multiple consumes can finish the job. I included as few artifacts as possible with all the hate running rampant so if you want to take out the Mines for creature or hand removal your more then welcome.
