CardShark Content - Jerry Melton (7/29/2005)

I'm writing in again but this time I'm writing about a casual deck and not a tournament deck! The deck I want to show you guys this week is Black/Blue ninjutsu deck. Basically, it uses loads of ninjutsu creatures and cheap creatures with evasion abilities (landwalk, flying, etc) to control the board. It's a really fun deck to play, and has lots of room for new ideas so you don't have to run an exact version of my deck. The list below just presents a basic idea of how my deck runs...

Before I show you a list, understand that this is a casual deck. As a result, I can't post any serious tournament match up information or sideboarding. In most cases, casual games don't sideboard... and if they do, it's up to you to build a side board... and with that, here's the list:

A 2/1 fear for 2 is pretty good, and any deck that doesn't run black/artifact creatures is staring down an unblockable creature that can fire off a powerful ninjutsu at any time. most of the time, this card has its uses. For one, it’s a really cheap ninjutsu card since it only costs one blue. Second, once you get control of the board, you can easily keep it with this guy out. Bouncing a creature whenever it hits is a disgusting ability and anyone with expensive creatures (Kokusho, etc) will be in trouble.

Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni: Here's the kill condition in the deck. One word- powerful. Not only does it have a good attack stat, it also has regeneration and it's black. Being black makes it resistant to some of the more popular kill spells, and of course, it can reanimate opponent's creatures when it hits. That's always a good thing.

Okiba-Gang Shinobi: The second most expensive ninja in the deck, this thing is powerful when it hits. Forcing your opponent to discard two cards can change the tide of the game. Just break through your opponent's defense with evasion creatures and this guy might win you the game!

Well, there's my deck list. You can modify it however you like. There’s a ton of different ways to build a deck like this, the one I listed is simply my favorite way to do it.
