Mirrodin block is going to rotate out before we know it. With Mirrodin gone, everyone, including me, will have to scramble to have a look at the new set, hoping to find suitable replacements for their deck (or an entirely new deck altogether). Lots of decks will lose key cards, rendering their situation almost hopeless, but I don’t think this is completely true for Mono-Green. Troll Ascetic

I’ve always thought that Mono-Green Aggro was an overpowered deck, even with the lack of removal. Still, I’m proud to always stick with the green side because of the ability to power out four mana fatties, especially since Chrome Mox

is going to rotate out very soon. With Ravnica around the corner, Mono-Green Aggro has nothing to lose. Here are some of my favorite green finishers:

Iwamori, the Open Fist, is a great, powerhouse for this deck, but I’m afraid of one legendary creature because of its regeneration ability…. Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni. With a Blanchwood Armor

is in a ton of decks. There's a reason for it. He is simply amazing as a powerhouse creature. Against other green or Green/X decks, he serves a double purpose... an aggressive beater and removal if your opponent gets one out before you. Not running him means that he will become an even bigger threat in the mirror. Using the legend rule to your favor could mean that you also get the chance to force through more damage than you would have if they have a live, fresh cast Kodama of the North Tree

is definitely another nice choice as well. Even though he may seem like a vanilla creature, an 8/8 trampler will finish the game if left unanswered. Maybe so, he has a huge drawback in the GGGG upkeep, but he is always an 8/8 trampler for 6 mana. With the deck's mana acceleration, you could very well see him in play on Turn 4. What opponent wants to see an 8/8 trampler on turn 4?

, in my opinion, is one of the most underestimated cards out there. It’s a solid 4/4 which means it serves as an excellent blocker as well as a decent attacker. It doesn’t have much synergy with Force of Nature

It seems to be a common practice to splash for Meloku, but people do it for a very strong reason. Meloku happens to be one of the best finishers in the format. Wizards R&D, though, accidentally made its casting cost 4U instead of 3UU. It’s like printing Eternal Witness

*At first glance, the deck looks like it could work, but there are some major weaknesses, its lack of removal for example. A horde of weenies could probably bash my face before my win conditions could come through. However, this is why I maindecked 4 Jitte, one of the only removal cards that a mono-green deck has access to. Now for the matchups:

White Weenie
-Wizards has been printing a lot of cards for white weenie in the recent block so it’s very likely that white weenie will become even more popular when Mirrodin cycles out. Remember, Jitte is the only card in this deck that can actually remove creatures. It’s a good idea to hold back your Jitte just in case the opponent plays one as well. In this case, at least you have a chance to naturalize the blasted thing before you play your own.

Gifts/ Control Decks
-Most of the control decks will probably run flyers (Dragons, Melokus) for their win conditions so this is where Silklash spider shines. It can block almost anything in the format (even Genju of the Spires
