CardShark Content - Julian Biondillo (2/3/2005)

How many times have you played a match at a tournament and you opponent used a term that you had no idea what it meant. Well I can say, at least for myself, that I have had quite a few encounters with people who have said some odd things.

In this article I’d like to define some of these “slang” and technical terms that I have heard in my years playing in attempt help out those who may encounter them and have no idea what their opponents are talking about. While most of these terms describe an action, I’m including a few “pet names” I’ve heard for creatures.

Agro – A deck type that uses fast creatures and or spells to win quickly. Example Decks: extended’s Red Deck Wins, standard’s Affinity/Vial Affinity, vintage’s Sligh.

Tricks – A term used when a player wants to see if their opponent will play any effects that may alter the outcome of something. Example: Arcbound Ravager
