The reasons why I chose these combos for my article is because they are ether
A) really fun to play such as: SQUIRRELS NEST / EARTH CRAFT
B) type 2 : SULFURIC VORTEX/ TRANSCELUCENCE
C) game winners : Dauthi Horror
Sub Type: Beast
Artist: Jeff Laubenstein
Text: Shadow (This creature can block or be blocked by only creatures with shadow.) Dauthi Horror cannot be blocked by white creatures.
Or D) a mix of the above : scythe of the wretched / triskelion/ crown of suspicion in this case its type 2, a game winner, and can be really fun to play with.
I have labeled the combos as a, b, c, or d. injunction with the above.
The first combo witch is c) uses 3 cards and is one of my favorites because you can use it in so many different ways. The combo is aluren, cavern harpy, and a list of other cards such as brain freeze, forgotten ancient, wierwood savage and pretty much any other card that utilizes infinite cards on the stack. The way this combo works is that when aluren is on the filed all creatures with converted manna 3 or less are free. Cavern harpy with a converted mana cost of 2 forces you to return a blue or black creature to your hand witch cavern harpy is, so you return the cavern harpy then replay it infinite times to put infinite cards on the stack. Then you play any of the storm cards to reap the benefits, deck your opponent with brain freeze, kill um with tendrils of agony or if you have forgotten ancient out it becomes the biggest creature on the filed.
The second combo wile it could potentially win you the game is more on the fun side so I listed it as A). This combo only requires 2 cards and lets you steal any of your opponents creatures over and over again for only 3 mana. The two cards are Equilibrium
and gilded drake. With equilibrium in play you play the drake for 2 mana take one of your opponents creatures then pay the 1 mana to return gilded drake to your hand.
Artist: Jeff Miracola
Text: Whenever you successfully cast a creature spell, you may pay 1 to return target creature to owner's hand.
This next combo is a A) and it will almost definitely win you the game if your not playing some mass weenie deck. This two card combo allows you to clear the board but still have a 6/6 creature under your control the two cards are obliterate and penumbra wurm. Obliterate
can also be substituted for worldslayer but obliterate works better since it cant be countered. The way it works is that when obliterate goes off it destroyed everything including the penumbra wurm. When the wurm hit’s the grave yard you get a 6/6 black wurm in play a potentially game winning hit with your opponent out of creatures and out of lands.
Artist: Kev Walker
Text: Obliterate can't be countered.Destroy all artifacts, creatures, and lands. They can't be regenerated.
This next combo witch is an A) also allows you to steal your opponents creatures, all of them in one fell swoop. This combo requires only 2 cards lure and tolarian entrancer. you enchant the entrancer with lure causing all creatures to block it then when tolarian entrenchers ability kicks in you get all your opponents creatures. Next turn you turn your opponents creatures against him and end the game.
This next combo is a D) because its really fun to play plus it wins you the game. This combo requires any creature quicksilver dagger and mind over matter. You enchant the creature with the dagger tap it to ping you opponent and draw a card then discard that card to mind over matter to untap your creature rinse and repeat so as long as you have more cards then your opponent has life points you will win the game.
I hope you enjoyed the article and will use these combos in many decks.
