This is a question that I've been asking my gaming group for sometime. Well, since we played at the Fifth Dawn Pre-release tournament, at least. I faired pretty poorly, as my Bringer of the White Dawn

Anyway, I've been contemplating what you could possibly do during a draft to make Sunburst viable. First, I agree with Scott Willis, off-color Myr are better then on color-Myr. And Green becomes a bit more versatile. Despite what has been said, with Dawn's Reflection

Now, to answer the question, does drafting for Sunburst work? If you build from Mirrodin onwards with the plan of building a crazy Sunburst deck, then yes. A third turn Bringer (I think we can consider them ´´Sunburst´´ cards for the purposes of this) or 5/5 Skyreach Manta

s become your primary concern in the Fifth Dawn pack.

Scott Willis once wrote an article for magicthegathering.com about sending signals in a draft. If you're drafting for Sunburst, you're looking, in Mirrordin and Darksteel, for powerful utility cards that cost only a single color mana. Affinity will help you out a lot. Most of my Sunburst decks tended towards a U/g combination, splashing red or black, whichever one gave me more removal. You'll be running lots of Artifacts, Prisms, Myr, Talismans, Darksteel Ingot
