. Perhaps I like it because, in my heart of hearts, I'm a control freak. I like the flow of the game to be at my beck and call. I like to play a ´´Mother May I?´´ deck. The pure rush of being in charge of whether or not you can cast a spell thrills me to my very bones. I like to say ´´No´´ to something, and mean it. The current meta-game may not be friendly to control decks, but with Kamigawa just a bit around the corner, and goblins about to die an inglorious death, I've decided to start my series of ´´Under Used Cards According to Matthew Sablan´´ with one of my personal favorites. So, without any further ramblings, I bring you the Vedalken Mastermind

.

With an elegant casting cost of UU, he isn't one of the more splashable of blue's control creatures. And with a 1/2 body, he doesn't make for much oomph. But his ability is where he becomes something that, as a control player, I've always wanted. One blue mana, tap the Mastermind, and then you can bounce something of your own. And what this article will hopefully do is show you things that work exceptionally well with the Mastermind. I'm going to try and avoid the obvious, such as Viridian Shaman

for card control fun, or blocker bouncing. Those are tried and true methods to handling bouncing fun; I'm going to look at some of the more interesting cards, with a focus on Type Two.

For me, there are two kinds of things that are worth bouncing. Things that continually hurt your opponent, things with beneficial comes into play effects (though, sadly, the Venerable Monk

ly, there are some things that only need to be on the board during your turn, or your opponent's turn. But, how can we set up the
Mastermind's bouncing facilities? The defensive advantages of bouncing are clear enough. It can protect itself (or anything) from removal. It can, in a draft, make Spark Elemental

no longer causing your opponent to blink in the late game? Time to bounce and re-imprint!) Mana-Accel of any kind will usually help a bouncing intensive deck, as you'll need to fuel the Mastermind, and you'll need to make sure that you're still able to make with the replaying of whatever it is you bounced when it is time for it to be on the table again.

Your deck will also be a control deck. Aggressive decks generally do not benefit from bouncing your own things. Granted, it can let you do fun things, like bounce a creature equipped with Grafted Wargear

, but do you really want to waste your quite likely very powerful bouncing on something like that? Rather, I'll take a look at the Local and Global Enchantments, and artifacts that deserve the pleasure of being bounced. A lot.

Somethings that deserve to be bounced are local enchantments. See an enchantment that is ´´going to waste?´´ Like when you were in desperate straits for your off-color mana, so you Steal Artifact
