I arrived at the site together with Amiel Tenebaum and three Italians also staying with him around 9 Saturday morning. The site was packed with people trading, chatting and playing magic. Three hours and a lot of waiting we finally received our decks.

I could have built a very solid BW deck (many of the best decks in sealed seem to be straight BW), but the potential mana problems of two WW and two BB 2-casting cost drops scared me into a WGr build instead. After eating, playing and more waiting during my buys I finally got the chance to play.

I won the first two matches with a little luck and a little help from my opponents who made some mistakes that I could take advantage of. In round 6 me and my opponent both were 5-0. He gave me the first game by enchanting one of my creatures with Oni Possession

. That gave me a 4/5 abyss that he couldn't deal with. He didn't realize that he was still the controller of the enchantment and had to sacrifice creatures. He had some other skills though and I lost the next two games to mana problems. I managed to keep my frustration in control and won the next three matches to end the day at 8-1.

Getting home from the site proved to be a problem as there were no taxis available in that part of town at 2 o'clock in the morning. Eventually we found one and went to sleep at 03:20. With a massive four hours of sleep I felt ready for day 2.

In the first draft I misread the draft a little and ended up as one of three UB players. I did however get some good cards and I almost beat Bastien Perez who had an insane deck with three Kami of the Ancient law, Eight and a half tails, 3 Kabuto Moth

and 2 devouring greed among other things. I was pretty happy with going 2-1 in that pod, now I just needed two more wins and a draw for a top8.

I get a really good start in the second draft as I somehow manage to get Innocence Kami

and Indominable Will as 7th and 10th pick. Quentin Martin grabbed a dampen thought in the third booster and eventually gets the best version of that archetype that I have seen. I managed to get two picks in almost every booster and in the third round everything came together as I was passed a third pick Yosei. My deck ended up very good

…and I easily beat the French guy with two dragons, two teller of tales two glacial ray, 3 kodomas might.

Round fourteen gets delayed for two hours as they have severe problems with the computers and have to repair the rounds manually. The top 8 deciding match starts out great for me as I take him down with Yosei and friends. In the second duel I keep a questionable hand going second with 5 lands and two creatures. I draw 6 lands and 4 spells over the next ten turns and die heavily flooded. In the deciding duel I get another five land two creatures draw that I should have mulliganed but with the top 8 on the line I didn't think enough to make the best decision and kept the hand. I was rewarded with many lands again this time and missed the top 8 in a very frustrating way.

The deck came together for me in the last round and I managed to get a win to secure a 13th place out of 1592 players which looking back at it isn't all to bad. I have once again learned the hard way that 2 lands and 5 land hands can be very dangerous to keep and you really need to think about whether to keep them or send them away.
