Bring the Bling! - Michael Macfarlane (8/31/2007)

First off, I'm not a tourney player - I play for fun. Pierre is what I could be called. I love constructed, and I use up almost all of the cards that I buy into strange conglomerations I call ´´theme´´ decks.

This one, however, I purchased entirely on Cardshark after thinking it through. The funny thing is, it's my first Dragon deck. Sure, I have Keiga in with my Ninja, and Rorix in with my Bloodshot Cyclops

Welcome to mana heaven! By turn 6, you could have 10 or more land. It's almost intoxicating – and after playing acceleration like this, it's funny to see how slow most other decks appear against it. Prismatic decks may be difficult, but when you're drawing 3 cards and playing up to 3 lands per turn with 2 Rites of Flourishing

, it's much more manageable.

Does it get beat? Of course - but its record for me is definitely around 75% Wins. It works well in both one-on-one and multi, but it dominates Two-Headed Giant. 2HG is my favorite format anyway, but if someone can shield you for a few turns, the dragons start coming and don't stop.

The biggest weakness is against swarms. With an allowable 13 creatures max, that's what the Essence Warden

s help with, Teneb can reclaim any of them also. The Scion dragon lets you put a dragon you may not have out yet into the GY, just so you can reclaim it later.

The most amazing (and difficult) trick is to suspend a Search or two, and time it so you can play a couple of cheap spells on the turn they (the Searches) play - and then drop the Dragonstorm

. It's hard not to laugh (I do try not to rub my wins in) when you pull the rest of the Bling dragons set out in one turn.

A lot of people like Teneb, so get ready to lose him, or even better, force someone else's from the sky. The Bling dragons with {G} in their cost are in triplicate - the other 2 are not, just because of the overwhelming forest population. If you lose 2 land of any other than forests, those Prismatic Lens

es will still help filter what you need. I'm not into paying big bucks for dual lands, but if it floats your boat, that'll help produce your needed slew of colors.

One thing I've found about acceleration, especially with the Rites, is that your deck is reduced in size as you fetch land, therefore increasing your odds of spell cards when you draw.
