, much of Ravagers insanely consistent speed was dropped, making the deck lose a decent amount of its abusive quality. With the coming of Fifth Dawn, however, Affinity seems to have gained itself a few new allies that might just bring the deck up to speed once again, mainly through the introduction of a new damage engine, Cranial Plating

Basically, the card has two major points of note. For one, its an almost no-brainer affinity card. Most affinity decks can drop 5-6 artifacts by their second turn, and with a drop of a Chrome Mox

That’s not to say the card doesn’t have a few downsides. For one, the instant equip cost can be pricy early game, unless we want to devote a chrome mox to a color that only aids two cards in the deck usually (Disciple and Plating), and it is susceptible to artifact hate (but then again, that’s artifact hate not being thrown at your Ravagers and lands).

You might as well treat its playing cost as 0, tap 2 lands, add two mana of any mana to your mana pool. The card is versatile on a number of levels. For the bargain price of a single mana, you gain an extra card, and get to have a hand in handpicking your next two card draws. or another serum onto your next draw, or bringing you the crucial Maalox / Ravager / Disciple / whatever)

On the downside, it certainly is no brainstorm, but its certainly not a BAD card. Just not excellent, either.

Nonetheless, you cant really change how the card works, and it has uses. As for the affinity deck itself, no, I'm not going to advocate a return to control affinity, as that would be silly. But with Plating and Maalox, an idea presents itself. Why not merge the best functions of Plating + flyers, with the more standard Raffinity, to create a deck capable of speed, and multiple win conditions to further pressure opponents? Therefore, here's a suggested decklist
