Here’s a Tribute to John Friggin Rizzo, my over indulgence in Casual Play and how Apprentice saved my life! (All In One Article!)

First off, I want to say I know its kind of late for an article praising Rizzo. I would've sent more but over Regionals I sent a lot of stuff in and it wasn't printed because there were better things to be printed (I'd be offended if it wasn't true.) Rizzo was, and is one of my favorite writers. Every one of his articles was amusing to an unfathomable degree. How did he do it? His articles were strategy with humor and a dash of pop-culture references. (And by dash I mean a large degree)

At the point of writing articles where I felt it was pointless because all I did was write about funny things and just having plain fun rather than going for the throat, I almost gave up. No one seemed to care. But man did I receive feedback!

Thanks to all 3 of you.

Heh. (Damn, Rizzo's got me doing it.)

But I started to read Rizzo's articles and I found that it didn't matter what the general reader's consensus on my articles was, but what I felt about it. I will admit I've had some bad articles. Hell, some were terrible. But some of them were really good. In fact, sometimes I amaze myself.

So, to end this Rizzo rant, I just want to say Rizzo will most definitely be missed. Even by smalltime writers whose opinions matter only to themselves.

With this in mind, I created a Life deck using the new Judgment set's Test of Endurance

and it wins incredibly fast. It's on version alpha right now. Not only is it Casual, but I have playtested it against many decks and it only really has a problem with Counter decks. (But who doesn't, right?)

is used to pitch a healing salve for a Heroes Reunion, or basically whenever you have a better spell in your graveyard than in your hand.

Yeah, so I make a Casual life gain deck, big whoop, right? I make a deck that maybe no one will try, other than me, and I get satisfaction from that? I send in an article about whatever I want, just so other players can think ´´That's a nice idea.but I'll stick to my own decks.´´ (I swear to God, I was about to make a reference to NetDecks for the next sentence, but then sat back and saw how spooky it was. I've said several times he'll be missed, but for good or bad reasons? * Kidding *) Do I love to write articles that die soon before they're posted?

Well actually, yeah to all of the above.

But not for those reasons. I make articles for YOU, if YOU don't like them, then who reads them? The kind of guy like me who goes to websites and looks into the archives to see what the haps was way back when, or is really bored and is checking out the new material. I remember the days when my stuff hit front page, but those days are done. That doesn't mean that I am.

Not by a long shot.

I hope all Casual players write because they like to. Or even for people to read. Shoot, I just hope they write. If you have opinions, tell the community. Share you knowledge. I'm trying to encourage other writers to start. There's a rocky start at the beginning. I'm still in the rocky start, and I've been writing since the Dojo days. And I'll keep writing. Why? Well, I'm assuming that mainly the only people who'd ask that were people who are more logical than they are experienced with writing, its that even if I'm not recognized by anyone, I'd be proud that my article is there for people who want to read them.

I think I reiterated a few points in there a few times. Sorry

, kind of went off onto a rant.

Oh yes, and I recently got Apprentice to work, (well just the patch) if anyone knows how to play online, e-mail me with some instructions, dragonstudios.com only says how to download it, not how to play online. I'm almost always online and always up for some Magic. Apprentice has made it possible for me to indulge into Music, my other love. It's hard to save up for that Bass amp and Psychatog

In closing, I won't say anymore about Rizzo, (everything's been said about it plenty of times), I will definitely encourage other writers, I would like to wish luck to you in writing or tourney going or both. Whichever you want. I'm off to go toy around and make more apprentice decks.

Nickropotence

(That's getting old. I should get a new name. how about Nick Friggin Rizzor? I'd need more talent and one-liners for that title. haha )
