Ever notice the symbol for Dell? An E on its side. Ever notice the symbol for Enron? Same story. You've got Dell computers. Small peanuts compared to Enron, right? How do smash leading competitors? No, that's not the question yet. Why do you smash them? Because they have your symbol. It's an easy to remember thing. The tilted E, that's genius! So, with the accompaniment of some Swiss bank accounts and ties with corrupt Enron employees the business folds under pressure, then what rises from the rubble? Five simples words that every ex-Enron employee fears.

´´Dude, you're getting a Dell!´´

Anyway, onto the real article.

Magic Variant: Planeswalker

This is a variant of Magic that is really fun. What is it you may ask? Well I'll assume you don't know unless you read back issues of Duelist very often, or anywhere else this may have been printed. Planeswalker Magic is a very simple and also very fun variant of Magic.

---Rules---

Planeswalkers often change environments. You, being a Planeswalker dueling
with other Planeswalkers need to possess the ability to change planes and
adjust to them. If you cannot, it may mean utter defeat. Those can
correctly align themselves hear only the trumpets of victory blare as they
revel. You and your opposing Planeswalkers have entered a shifting vortex,
redirecting you constantly to different dimensions. These locations are
not totally different from the one you usually play in, except for the
erratic changes that can disrupt or bear strategy.

(Cool, huh?)

At the beginning of them game have a certain amount of Global Enchantment or Artifacts that affect all players. Enchantments like The Abyss

. You should have an even amount that corresponds to the type of dice you have. 4 cards for a 4-sided die (d4), 6 for 6, etc., etc.

Do not use cards that require the caster to pay upkeeps. This will cause problems, seeing as how there is no real caster. Plus, if they have an upkeep, its because they are too game swinging to not be balanced. If you put a card like Stasis

on the list, your game is screwed.

Back to the dice part: At the beginning of the game roll the die you have selected that corresponds with your Planes list. Then, that effect is run and will until a player declares he wishes to ´´shift the current plane´´. Roll the die. If it is 1 - half of the die (d4 = 1-2, d8 = 1-4, etc.) the ´´shift´´ fails. Otherwise, roll the die again and that is the new plane you have entered. This global effect cannot be targeted or countered.

Planeswalker generates an even playing field for all players. Well, technically uneven, but even with best deck an unexpected player could get pulled into the undertow of change. Some changes can go from extremely painful to worse or better. It may possibly stay the same. The list I use is comprised of 20 cards, thus the randomness is greater. Here it is.

There's the list of this great game variant.

I'm not one to write an article without including a deck. It's my nature to throw my two cents in on a deck. Even my article on Rizzo had a deck that had nothing to do with Rizzo, aside from the fact it was Rogue. At the time it was anyway. A lot of people are making life decks now.

But the point is, I put decks in all of my articles, so what makes you think I'll stop now?

I was going to supply a deck for Planeswalker, but there really isn't one. It all boils down to luck and strategy. So I'll just give you another.

Here's my version of a deck I've been working on. Being a peasant player (or just an excuse to be cheap) I like to make Peasant decks. Well, I made a peasant Tog deck and it works really well. It dumps your deck to your graveyard, Cloak of Mists

It has a good solid mana-base and pretty much the cards speak for themselves. Ok, so the mana base isn't great but it's pretty obvious what to do with the cards. Get a huge graveyard; fill up your hand, Cloak your Tog and strike!

And in case any of you were wondering I've been doing MAD playtesting on my T2 decks. One of them that I just made (and how aware of its kinks) is a white weenie deck getting Threshold through Hypochondria
