Playing against any other deck that’s packing artifact hate you basically leave them the painful choice of Oxidizing the Titan and letting more of their lands go or NOT Oxidizing and letting a 7/10 beatstick pummel them lifeless. In all 8 rounds I played a total of four Affinity decks, winning all games (Game 1 and Game 2) excepting one instance where we were one and one and I succumbed to a bad mana draw, mulliganned to five with no bombs in hand on game three. At the end of the day, after all was said and done I had finished 22nd place out of the 155 players that attended. Not too bad for a newbie on the Tournament scene.

Winning all but one of my Affinity matchups, in playtesting and competition this leads me to believe that this deck would be a good answer to Affinity. Affinity’s the big guy at the bar with horribly white teeth and a car salesman’s handshake that takes the girls all the while laughing it up as he spills beer on our shoes. Time to stick it to Affinity!

If your metagame at your Friday Night Magic tournaments consists mostly of trying to find a good answer to the Affinity player try this deck out and tell me how it goes. E-mail address is at the bottom of the article.
