This is my Casual “fun deck” that makes use of a lot of commons and some uncommons in my stash, together with a few choice rares it proves so addictive I have a hard time putting it down. A friend of mine commented that it’s Green-Red weenie, I guess that’s one way of looking at it.

and get around a COP:Red. Explanation in a bit, just hang on to that little tidbit for now.

Kodama’s Reach, great acceleration, plus it makes sure that you’re not going to miss a land drop next turn. Also, as you are pulling lands out of your library, you are ensuring that spells you want to cast will be topdecking and you will have the mana to cast those spells. Splice a few Arcanes in there to add insult to injury.

It can act as early acceleration somewhat and as it is a common, it isn’t as expensive as BOPs. Don’t get me wrong, if you have them then use them, they are cycling out soon.

Tips on playing the deck:

Not tips, rather a few pointers.

For those rules junkies out there...

Splicing means that if the main spell is countered, so do all your other spells spliced onto the main spell. In line with this, if a spliced spell is countered then the whole spell, including the main spell is countered. Case in point, you cast Kodama’s Reach and splice Glacial Ray

will fizzle for lack of a target and so would Kodama’s Reach. Just think of the main spell and the spliced spell as one and the same, counter one part and the other part is countered. Believe me, this really happens, I tested it on MTGO to verify this fact.

Q: If a spliced spell is countered, then the spliced effect is countered as part of that, correct?
A: Yes. Splicing doesn't make multiple spells, it makes the one spell do more.
*Extra* As a matter of fact, if you splice a targeted spell onto a non-targeted spell, and then the target goes away, then the whole spells is countered [CR 413.2a].

onto a Kodama’s Reach or Kodama’s Might means that you can get around a Circle of Protection: Red or a creature with Protection from Red. Why you may ask? The main spell determines the color, Splicing is just the other spells piggy-backing on the main one, therefore your Glacial Ray

502.40c The spell has the characteristics of the main spell, plus the text boxes of each of the spliced cards. The spell doesn't gain any other characteristics (name, mana cost, color, supertypes, types, subtypes, etc.) of the spliced cards.
Example: If a red card that reads ´´this card deals 2 damage to target creature´´ is spliced onto a blue Arcane spell that reads simply ´´draw a card,´´ the spell is still blue. It can target a creature with protection from red and deal 2 damage to that creature.

On MTGO, strangely enough there seems to be a bug where the Long-Forgotten Gohei actually discounts the cost of spells AND splices AT THE SAME TIME!

Splice Cost = 1U

The beauty of this build lies not in the high-priced rares that most other decks sport but in the commons and uncommons and the relatively cheap rares used. The uncommons are $0.10 (10 cents) each with exception of Oxidize
