about the less than timeliness of this report. I just got the bug in my butt today so here it is.

As per usual, I guess I should introduce myself before starting this bad boy. My name is Spencer Bogan. I guess you could get that much from just the title. I am staying in a small town nestled in the Sacramento region. It is the town of Davis.

During the rest of the year I live in West Virginia and don’t really play Magic. So I jumped at the chance to play at Regionals of course. The first question I asked myself when thinking about what deck to play wasn’t what I could get a hold of, but what did I honestly expect to show up en masse.

I started talking to a lot of people and doing a lot of reading. I really checked out the Invitational deck lists. On top of all that, I spent a few hours checking forums all over the Internet just to get a pulse on what the average person was going to bring. With all that information in tow, I came up with the following idea of the metagame for Regionals:

. Then I realized I would be getting hated all day (well, realized again). I was pretty distraught since MGA is clunky, Red is too draw dependent, and WW is a worse deck choice than the Dan Bock special. (Don’t know what the Dan Bock special is, the read this http://www.wizards.com/sideboard/article.asp?x=PTTOK01\897fm1c ).

I finally decided I would have to orchestrate my own demise. It was time to make my MBC deck. After doing a bit of theorizing, I rationalized that Kokusho was overrated and that I hate creatures. Seriously, who needs those? Then the question surfaced that puzzled me for a long time. How should I win? The answer to that question was quite simple. My goal wasn’t to eek out a victory with fatty, but to just dominate my opponent and win when it was convenient. Seriously, who needs a clock when I have Persecute

So I pay my $25 entrance fee and register my deck. The venue sucks as there are mirrors everywhere, a total of 4 different rooms, and only 3 judges for 250 people. Talk about badness.

I get my pairings for Round 1 and show up. The conditions are cramped and it doesn’t help that I am built like the Kingpin.

Round 1 – Cameron with GR LD
So before we get the signal for go and have the opening lecture from the head judge, Cameron starts talking lots of trash. Like a bunch of complete bull crap. He says he had a 1900 rating, but lost 50 points at a PTQ and was going to earn it all up here. I laugh inside, but say nothing because my 1700 rating self was going to do some serious damage to people’s DCI ratings today.

We shuffle up and roll the die. Cameron wins and chooses to play. He leads with a Forest
