CardShark Content - Spencer Bogan (10/9/2005)

States is coming. Are you ready? I can't say I am completely ready. But right now I have done a lot of play testing with one of the most powerful decks in the format, Black Gifts ported from Kamigawa Block constructed. The format is changing and will Gifts get swept away? Join me as I chronicle my journey with one very strong deck throughout the weeks before States 2005.

A lot of people are speculating what will be a good deck come the time when Ravnica is officially released. In my mind there are a few already amazingly solid choices. The first, perhaps most obvious, is White Weenie with Red. Char

, and Skyknight Skirmisher give the deck a lot of reach that traditional White Weenie lacked. What this means is that sitting at less that 7 life against WW is a dangerous place to be.

The other deck that a lot of people seem to be jawing about is ´´Rock´´. Most builds are really just BG Turbo Hypnotic Specter

and Kagemaro. Of course some just run 4 Jittes and hope that they can get by with that. Sometimes Ink-Eyes rears her head, but Kokusho is the dominant legend of choice. This deck ends up playing more like BG Jank than the dominant card advantage machine of old.

That leads me to my pick for the best deck in the format. Some people say that Gifts ported from Block will end up too diluted. Others say that running no one drops aside from Sensei's Divining Top
