It's me, it's me, the Wookie, and it's time once again to take a jaunt through the twisted back alleys and dark corners of my weird brain thing. This time I come to offer a November 1'st standard deck entitled Probe-go
2k1. I know, it's a cheesy rip off of Sean McKnown's original, but this deck is a revamp of the deck that loses a great deal with the rotating out of Masques block.
The original Probe-go was built on a sound theory of card advantage, and like its predecessor, Probe-go, PG2K1 (Probe-go 2k1) is also built around the theory of card advantage. The idea of the deck is simple: draw more cards and use more resources than your opponent and you win (or at least in theory you do). With returning power houses like Fact or Fiction and Wrath of God, Pobe, and a supporting cast including Recoil, Gerrard's Verdict, and Dismantling Blow, card advantage abounds in this deck. But, one of the key
cards in the deck has left us, Nether Spirit. Now, the spirit was a phenom in the card advantage front, however, his beating capabilities left something to be desired, however, since Millstone was the more reliable kill, that didn't matter much. Nether Spirit helped with annoying Blastoderms and other random fat, but it just didn't beat. Enter Odyssey and its SUPER economical Mystic Zealot and the beats are accounted for.
Well, now that we have the stars of the deck and the supporting cast accounted for, who is left to fill the openings in PG2K1's line up. First up are the usual suspects in Counterspell and Absorb. Helping Mystic Zealot with the beats are Dromar, the Banisher and Desolation Angel. Memory Lapse joins the crew as a solid tempo grabber, and Concentrate rounds out the line-up as a dynamite mid to late game card drawer.
Now, for the cards that didn't make my cut. First up, Vindicate. This is an awesome card, and no one should ever tell you otherwise, however, by itself, the card does not gain any direct card advantage, and thus loses points in contention for this deck. Rout, this is absent due to the diminishing of fires, 4 Wraths should be plenty in the first game, but don't worry, Rout is in the board. Dromar's Charm, this card gave me more than one headache with mana on SEVERAL occasions, and thus did not earn a spot in my version of the deck. Millstone; with the efficient beats of Mystic Zealot and the late game threat of Dromar or a kicked angel, millstone seemed to be a uber redundant threat, however, more testing might reveal
that the rolling stone needs to be in the deck. As of the first list, Finkel is not in the deck. This is sure to change, however, as Shadowmage Infiltrator is one of the most powerful card drawers out there. Also,
Undermine is out and Absorb is in. This is due to the fact that one might incur a significant amount of pain from the land in this deck, so advancing or resetting your time clock is an advantage in this deck.
Well, now that you have heard what's in and what's out, here is the decklist.

Well folks, there it is. I must tell you that this is an Alpha version and will more than likely change with more testing. As I said Earlier, Shadowmage Infiltrator will more than likely be in future versions, however, at this point, he is not. Also, The counter base is subject to change in future versions, however, at this point I can see no need for a change.
Lemme know what you think. Play with it, make changes, heck, just e-mail me and tell me that I am crazy, whatever you wish to do, but please, let me know what you think. All e-mail's are welcome and will be responded to in a prompt manner (usually the same day). Well, I guess that is it for this time, so until we meet again may the power of the top-deck be yours.
Peace,
Wookie
