CardShark Content - Nick Rohr (4/12/2001)

This deck is a R/B deck that revolves around using your opponent's deck against them. Take Delirium, for example it simultaneously neutalizes their creature, then damages them for owning it. True tactic of the Ninja. Another true tactic of the ninja is Smoke, kind of a form of evasion. Picture this, their one creature untaps, then you tap it with a Delirium or Backlash damaging them, kind of setting them back a turn, then forcing them to make a descision as to which creature to untap next turn. Don't worry about your creatures untapping or not, seeing as how they're basically weenies with shadow (providing good stealth). Discard, Burn, Creature Control, and Destuction. Good combination. Well, anyway, check out the deck:

Black(16)

4:Duress (Discard)
4:Dauthi Slayer (Shadow)
2:Dauthi Mindripper (Shadow\Discard)
2:Dregs of Sorrow (Creature Removal\Card Drawing)
4:Agonizing Demise (Creature Removal\Direct Damage)

Red (12)

4:Stone Rain (Land Destruction)
2:Shattering Pulse (Artifact destruction)
4:Smoke (Creature control)
2:Shivan Emissary (Weenie\Creature Destruction)

Gold (9)

3:Delirium (Direct Damage\Creature Control)
3:Backlash (Direct Damage\Creature Control)
3:Kaerevek's Purge (Creature Destruction\Direct Damage)

Land (23)

12:Swamp
11:Mountain

Sideboard (22)

4:Shivan Zombie (Weenie\Pro:White)
4:Wildfire Emissary (Sweet against white decks)
4:Hypnotic Cloud (Discard)
2:Torrent of Lava (Flee goblins, flee!)
4:Ravenous Rats (Weenie\Discard)
4:Detonate (Artifact Removal\Direct Damage)

The 9 gold cards are key to this deck. Having less than 2 of any of them for any reason, unless you're facing a creatureless or few creatures deck, is a problem and could slow down the effeciency of the deck.

Another name this deck is known as is multi-tasker. For the mere fact that it does just that. It performs many tasks, but overall, uses Ninja tactics. Acidic Dagger is an honorable mention, you can add it if you wish.
The sideboard is a tad weak, so if you wish, tweak it.
Duress is one of your best friends. Remember that. Enchantments, Artifacts, Soreceries and Instants neutralized before they're cast. Excellent.
Ahh, Smoke, the second-hand is more lethal, but we know better, don't we? Smoke kills...not exactly in this case, but it is extremely useful.

And, last but not least, Dregs of Sorrow, is one of the key cards in this deck. A little expensive, but worth it in the long run.
